Mining students at NWCC to benefit from Geoscience awards over next ten years

The highly regarded mining program at Northwest Community College has received another nod of approval, this one from Geoscience BC, which on Wednesday announced that it was establishing a new award for students at the college's School of Exploration and Mining.

Geoscience BC outlined the nature of an award program which will provide a $500 award each for the next ten years, destined to help enthusiastic mining students in their studies at NWCC.

Since the School of Exploration and Mining was created in 2004 it has graduated more than 1000 students, the majority of them Aboriginal students have taken the skills learned through the school on into the field and the many mining opportunities available throughout the Northwest.
