Prince Rupert RCMP seek public assistance on threats investigation

A Friday afternoon incident at Charles Hays Secondary School is the focus of an ongoing RCMP investigation, as the local detachment seeks more information regarding the actions of suspicious male.

On Friday, the RCMP responded to a call for assistance from a group of young people who were playing baseball on the field at Charles Hays on Prince Rupert Boulevard.

As they were playing, a male approached the group and began acting in a strange manner, at one point allegedly telling the group "I'm gonna hurt you sooner or later"

At that point, the group becoming alarmed at his behaviour, left the area of the school and contacted the RCMP.

During the course of their response to the call, officers could not find the man in question.

The detachment is now turning to the public as they are seek more information on the incident.

The RCMP have released further details on the case as well as an image of the man in question.

Should residents have more information or recognize the image of the person of interest, they are asked the local detachment at 250-627-0700 or through CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477)

Update: March 25-- The Prince Rupert RCMP provided an update on the Charles Hays file and advised that they have located the suspect in the incident and determined that it was a misunderstanding between the adult and the youths involved. You can review more on their follow up here.
