Port Edward residents to get look at proposed housing development

The Port Edward Community Centre will be the host for an Open House this evening where residents can learn more about about the rezoning planned for a parcel of land on Rainbow Avenue in the District.

The project would provide for multi family residential development in the community by Alture Properties, as part of tonight's Open House, company representatives will review how the proposed development fits into the District's 2013 Official Plan, as well as provide more background on the features and benefits of the project should it move forward.

The short review of what Alture Properties has proposed can be found from their website here.

Alture Properties most recently launched a similar housing proposal in Kitimat called Baxter Landing, you can gain a bit of an idea as to what their property vision is like from that project's prospectus.

Tonight's Open House starts at 6 PM and continues on until 8 PM.

The prospect of major development in the Port Edward area has been a theme of local conversation almost from the start of the discussion on LNG proposals in the region.

As we outlined last year at this time, a good portion of some of the anticipated growth on the North Coast has had a focus on Port Edward of late.
