Prince Rupert Minor Hockey offers up the Big Assist for those looking to play this season

With the Lou Lemire Hockey Skills Camp underway today at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre, the first sign of the upcoming Prince Rupert Minor Hockey Season has arrived.

The popular skills development camp will take place from today until Friday, the 8th annual edition of the program which provides instruction in a number of directions, designed to help build skill levels and add to the excitement level for the upcoming hockey season.

And with the ice now in at the Jim and the sound of blades chipping in to be heard all week, it's time to start thinking about registration for the season ahead.

This year the Prince Rupert Minor Hockey Association has introduced a program it calls The Big Assist, where all new Initiation A and Initiation B hockey players will find a registration fee of only 50 dollars as well as a 25 dollar jersey deposit to launch their hockey dreams for the year ahead.

The deadline to take advantage of the Big Assist program is August 31st.

The Popular initiation program is the first glimpse of organized hockey that many youngsters in Prince Rupert receive, setting the stage for their journey through the various levels of minor hockey in the region.
