Over 8,000 Northwest voters cast advance ballots over Long Weekend

Elections Canada has provided the estimated background numbers to the recent advance polling opportunity for this years Federal Election, with 3.6 million Canadians voting in the advance poll a 71 percent increase from the numbers of 2011.

Despite some wet and windy weather across the Northwest and a few initial grumblings about the location in Prince Rupert of the Elections Canada storefront, the numbers across the region look good suggesting that across the riding voters are fairly engaged with the 2015 campaign to this point.

For Skeena-Bulkley Valley 8,332 voters cast an X over the four days of advance voting from Friday to Monday. No break down was provided when it comes to a community by community comparison.

In the 2011 Federal election 35,237 voters cast a vote out of a potential voting population of 61,043.

General Voting Day takes place on Monday, from 7 AM to 7 PM, in Prince Rupert, voting takes place at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre.
