AMHS releases Summer Schedule for Prince Rupert to Ketchikan service

The AMHS has released its summer
schedule for 2016, but the Taku (above)
won't be making any port calls this year
With a new reservation system in place, the Alaska Marine Highway System is providing the heads up when it comes to summer service this year, releasing the summer schedule for those that have plans to make the journey north bound out of the Fairview Bay terminal this year.

The AMHS has had to juggle a range of issues related to its service, from funding concerns at the State level which could still change from sessions in Juneau, to fleet issues, with the Taku taken out of service for the year and the Malaspina set to go into a refit period during the summer months.

Still, with travel planning now underway for those with thoughts of an Alaska vacation, the AMHS delivered its sailing listings this week, with Prince Rupert just one of the many ports to be featured from the information release.

The schedule through the winter and spring will remain at one sailing per week each Tuesday, with the number of trips increasing through June, July, August and September to twice a week.

The peak summer travel months of July and August will see two sailings
per week out of Prince Rupert for the Alaska Marine Highway Service
