ANBT qualifying tourney set for November 23-26

The first fork in the road for teams hoping to qualify for the 2017 All Native Basketball Tournament comes up next month, with Tournament organizers announcing the date of the Qualifying Tourney in Prince Rupert.

November 23-26 is when hopefuls for the Big Show of February will take their shot at a spot in the annual tournament, making for some high tempo basketball coming our way, as teams look for a last shot to go up against returning squads from last years event.

The entry fee for teams looking to participate in the Qualifying tournament is 450 dollars and is due by November 11th.

More details on the full package of information for the Qualifying tournament can be found at the ANBT offices, contact them at 250-627-8997 for more details.

The 2017 edition of the ANBT Tournament is set for February 12 to 18 at the Russell Gamble Gymnasium and Civic Centre complex. Entry fees for the February tourney are 600 dollars and due by January 20th of next year.

Both the qualifying tournament and the main event of February will take place in a refurbished Russell Gamble Gymnasium. That work took place over the summer and provided for upgrades to the lighting system and a new Court surface for play.

The resurfacing of the court floor now features new lines that follow FIBA rules for International basketball, something which has provided for more distance for three point shots, a change which should make for some late game excitement in the matches to come.

Updates on the plans for both the Qualifying tournament and the main event of February can be found on the ANBT Facebook page.
