Rampage working to reverse recent results as Quesnel arrives for Saturday night match up

A promising start to the 2016-17 CIHL season went a little sideways over the last few weeks as the Prince Rupert Rampage found a few struggles to bring the first month of the season to close.

The Rampage losses included a physical home ice contest with the Terrace River Kings and a road trip challenge that found a rather short roster of Rhinos on the wrong end of a match up with the Smithers Steelheads.

November however offers a chance to reverse those trends with the Rampage set to welcome the Quesnel Kangaroos into the noisy confines of the Jim on Saturday night.

The 7 PM puck drop however will bring a tough challenge for the Rampage, Quesnel has found some fair success in hitting the back of the net in their first five games with 28 goals recorded so far in the young CIHL season, though the Rampage can take note as well that the Kangaroos have also surrendered their share of goals with 24 goals against to this point.

Quesnel arrives in town with Justin Fulton and Alessio Tomassetti leading the scoring parade in the league, each with 11 points, claiming over one third of the goal production for the team so far.

Overall the team has rattled off 69 points in their first five games, compared to 27 for the home side Rampage, who will be looking to match the Kangaroos offensively, while shutting down what is clearly a high powered attack heading towards the Rupert end of the rink.

All of which points to the possibility of a high scoring affair on Saturday night, with the Rampage hoping to claim the two points on the weekend and the chance to move ahead of Quesnel in the CIHL standings.

For their part, with Quesnel facing a Sunday afternoon game in Terrace on the weekend agenda, grabbing the two points out of Rupert will be a key element of the Kangaroo plans for Saturday, as they look to guarantee at least a split on their Northwest adventures.
