Thrive North Business Challenge offers up to $10,000 towards business ideas



Just over two weeks remain for residents of the North Coast to put their applications in for a chance to secure up to 10,000 dollars in funding for a new, or expanded business proposal, part of this years Thrive North Business Challenge.

The open competition is directed towards those from 18 to 39 with an entrepreneurial spirit and this year features three distinct categories for those interested in turning a business idea into a community venture.

The Categories this year include:

Best New Business: 18 to 28 years old.
The focus for the first category is for a business at any stage prior to launch, directed towards those from the ages of 18 to 28

Best New Business: 29 to 39 years old.
The focus here is on a business at any stage prior to launch, directed towards those from the ages of 29 to 39.

Best Growth Opportunity: 18 to 39 years old.
The final category is designed for those operating a business that is looking to expand through increased staff, a new location or offering new products and services.

The deadline for applications for all three categories is March 31, 2017

All applicants will be offered the opportunity to participate in the online pitch training program, while those that make it to the semi-finalist round and the final round will be provided with exclusive resources and one-on-one coaching to make their pitch presentation even stronger.

Winners from each category will receive 10,000 dollars for their successful final pitch.

There will also be an audience award worth 5,000 dollars as part of this years competition.


The Semi-Finals for the process will be held over the course of four days in two Northwest locations:

May 1 and 2 -- Terrace
May 3 and 4 -- Prince Rupert

This years finals are to take place in Prince Rupert on May 17 and 18.
