Final get out the vote push is on for North Coast campaign

The phones are ringing across the North Coast today as campaign workers for the three candidates in the BC election campaign look to get out the vote as election day appears on next weeks horizon.

With but three and half days left before we reach the May 9th General election day, the final appeals to voters have so far seen workers for Herb Pond and Jennifer Rice making their pitch to the North Coast Review home office seeking some insight as to which way the political winds may be blowing when it comes to marking that X.

Those that may be looking to cast a ballot before Tuesday's General vote have two more opportunities to take advantage of the advance polling option, something that 1.063 of the North Coasts 14,220 registered voters have already done.

Voting totals released by Elections BC offer up an indication to some of the interest in the campaign to this point, with 354 voters casting their ballots last Saturday, 279 on Sunday and the largest number so far, 420 heading to the advance poll locations to cast their votes on May 3rd.

Totals for yesterday have yet to be released by Elections BC, advance voting continues today, with the final advance poll taking place on Saturday,  running from 8 AM to 8 PM

In Prince Rupert, that advance poll is being hosted at the Prince Rupert Library or the Electoral office on Third Avenue West.

The North coast trails Terrace however in the early bird voting, the Skeena riding has seen 2,288 votes cast in advance as of May 3rd, that's roughly 10 percent of the 20,002 registered voters in the riding as of April 11th.

You can review how the North Coast has compared to the rest of the province when it comes to early voting from this information sheet from Elections BC.

So far, province wide 327,491 voters have taken advantage of the advance poll opportunities, that out of a total of 3,156,991 voters who had registered by April 11th.
