RCMP call Fulton Street Fire suspicious, seek assistance of the public

Tuesday evenings fire in the Fulton and 8th Avenue area of the city is now being investigated as a suspicious fire, with the RCMP now seeking to make contact with two individuals who were seen in the area at the time that the blaze broke out and who may be able to offer assistance in their investigation.

In a media release issued Wednesday evening, the Prince Rupert detachment provided some more background to Tuesday evening's fire, noting that at approximately 8:30 that evening RCMP officers responded to the fire in the 800 block of Fulton, with the building fully engulfed in flames.

As part of their duties that evening, RCMP assisted the Prince Rupert Fire/Rescue Department with traffic control and by interviewing potential witnesses.

A subsequent review of the scene by the two agencies on Wednesday determined that the fire was suspicious in nature.

As part of their investigation, the RCMP is seeking more information related to two unknown individuals who were seen leaving the area at the time of the fire in a small dark coloured SUV. The Mounties would like to speak to those individuals as they may be potential witnesses with regard to the fire.

Should you have any information related to Tuesday's fire you are asked to contact the RCMP at 250-627-0700 or through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477)
