Some residents of the east side of Prince Rupert can ask BC Hydro for their "I'm late" pass this morning, after the Hydro utility was called to respond to an overnight outage on the east side of town.

The city went dark for a large area from Seventh Avenue East to Highway 16 at 12:47 AM affecting 2,318 residents, the power was restored close to two hours later at 2:35.

BC Hydro offered up few details on their website as to the nature of the outage, listing its cause as "other".
