Some more details have been released by the RCMP related to an early morning incident in the city, which has left a two block stretch of Fifth Avenue at McBride closed to traffic, with RCMP members currently engaged in a standoff with someone in a home on Fifth, who is wanted in relation to a serious incident.

A number of police vehicles have restricted access to the area in the 200 block of Fifth since the early morning hours .

Since that early morning period, a heavily armed tactical force has taken up positions around the house in question.

With the situation still unresolved and concerns for public safety still high, the RCMP have asked the public to stay away from the area as a precautionary measure as they take continue to work the scene.

As more details related to the ongoing situation are released we will update our notes.
