Traffic fatality keeps Highway 16 closed at Fraser Lake
Highway travel between Prince George and Prince Rupert has come to a standstill as the RCMP continue their investigation into a serious chain reaction vehicle incident at Beaumont Provincial Park at Highway 16, near the community of Fraser Lake.
One person was killed and two others are in serious condition following the incident which took place shortly after 9:30 this morning.
It's being reported by Opinion 250 out of Prince George that the driver of a westbound Sports Utility Vehicle lost control of the vehicle on a curve, crossing the centre line and into the path of an eastbound passenger car.
The SUV was then struck by a commercial truck and trailer unit which had been following the passenger car, that truck was then struck from behind by an eastbound commercial crane unit.
The highway will remain closed until a Collision Reconstruction specialist from Prince George has evaluated the evidence.
Drive BC advises that a light vehicle detour has been put in place, anticipated reopening time for the highway is 6:30 PM
