BC Ferries announces Sailing Delay in effect Monday night for Northern Expedition
As more nasty weather tracks its path towards the North Coast on Monday evening, BC Ferries has made a schedule change to the planned Monday night departure of the Northern Expedition.
The Ferry Service posted the Service Notice to their website on late Monday afternoon , advising that Monday evening's 11 PM sailing has been delayed until 7 AM, weather dependant and subject to change.
Environment Canada issued a Gale Warning at 4 PM for the Hecate Strait north and south areas, calling for Winds from the southeast 25 to 35 knots increasing to 45 knots through the evening, along with seas of 2 to 3 metres building to 4 to 6 metres near midnight.
With conditions that would make a journey across Hecate Strait a less than enjoyable experience, the Ferry Service revised their schedule to set out for Haida Gwaii under calmer seas on Tuesday morning.
The resulting schedule changes can be found at the top of this page.
You can review further updates from the BC Ferries website.
