Maureen Macarenko can add another directorship to her list of accomplishments on the North Coast, as the Prince Rupert Port Authority announced today that Ms. Macarenko is joining the Board of Directors for the Port Authority.
The Port Authority revealed the details of her appointment in a press release on Thursday, providing some background on her past work in the community and how they looked forward to her contributions to help move the Port forward.
"Her deep roots in the Prince Rupert community, combined with her rich history of involvement in corporate governance, will be valuable as we steer the Port of Prince Rupert through ongoing expansion and into increased global influence."-- Bud Smith, Chairman of the Board of the Prince Rupert Port Authority, on the occasion of the addition of Maureen Macarenko to the Port Authority's Board of Directors.
Ms. Macarenko has over thirty five years of experience in transportation issues on the North Coast, mainly through her work with G. W. Nickerson Co. Ltd., of which she is a past president.
Her placement on the Board of the Prince Rupert Port Authority was hailed by both Mayor Mussallem of Prince Rupert and Mayor Dave MacDonald of Port Edward, with both officials commenting on her ties to the community, involvement with it and her ability to help the Port move into the future.
Her addition to the Port Authority Board marks her third appointment in recent years to transportation bodies in the region.
Ms. Macarenko is currently sitting as President of the Prince Rupert Airport Authority and is also a member of the Board of Directors for British Columbia Ferries Services Inc.
She is also a past President of the Prince Rupert and District Chamber of Commerce.
