Lax Kw'alaams and Britco sign partnership deal

Lax Kw'alaams will soon be building a relationship with Industrial giant Britco, looking to establish a modular building rental business to service projects across much of Northwestern British Columbia.

Britco signed a memorandum of understanding with Britco on Tuesday, which will see the modular building company set up an office in Prince Rupert , a process that will provide for a member of Lax Kw'alaams  to be employed by Britco to develop business opportunities in the region.

The deal was concluded with Lax Kw'alaams Mayor Garry Reece and Britco President Mike Ridley signing the Memorandum of Agreement in Prince Rupert, an arrangement which could open up a new stream of opportunity for the First Nation in the Northwest.

Britco is one of the largest modular construction companies in the industry, with offices in Australia, the United States and Canada. It's Canadian headquarters is in Langley.

One of their key directions in their industry, is with the construction of work camps,  an opportunity which may soon be a fast growing industry in the Northwest, should even a few of the many proposed industrial projects take shape in the next few years.

With their arrangement with Britco, the Lax Kw'alaams is putting down the foundation for what may be a very prosperous service industry for those projects ahead.
