Forest Fire closes Highway 16 at 20 kilometres east of Tete Jaune Cache junction
The forest fire situation at the eastern end of Highway 16 took a disruptive turn on Saturday afternoon, as Drive BC advised that the main east - west highway across Northern British Columbia had been closed 20 kilometres east of Tete Jaunce Cache junction.
The highway was closed in both directions, just east of the junction with Highway 5.
Fire Management officials continue to assess the nature of the fire currently burning in the region, the anticipated time of re-opening for the highway is set for sometime between 10 PM tonight, to 1 AM tomorrow morning, dependant on conditions.
No detours are available for traffic travelling on that portion of the Yellowhead highway.

Update: Just before 9 PM, Drive BC reopened the Highway to travel in both directions.
