The much anticipated arrival of the fourth crane for the Maher Terminal operations at Fairview Terminal took place in Prince Rupert harbour on Saturday afternoon.
The crane, part of the container terminal expansion plans for the Prince Rupert Port Authority, will add to the Port's transportation infrastructure on the Prince Rupert waterfront.
The giant lift crane arrived on board the heavy load carrier Zhen Hua 11, destined for the Fairview 4 berth at the Container Terminal, where work will commence shortly to transfer the giant crane from ship to shore.
Saturday's arrival marks the fourth heavy lift crane to join the inventory at Fairview Terminals. The latest addition at Fairview joins the three cranes which are currently in use by Maher Terminals, 1,800 tonne Super Post Panamax cranes, which feature a 22 container wide reach.The Port of Prince Rupert is in the process of adding space to the existing terminal creating a working area towards the BC Ferry Terminal, in an area adjacent to the west of the Old McMillan Fish plant.
An expansion project that is indicative of the growth in shipping that has come out of Fairview since it first began it's operations on the North Coast.
