Police cruiser/pedestrian incident has RCMP seeking witnesses
A traffic incident involving an RCMP police cruiser and a pedestrian has the Prince Rupert detachment seeking further witnesses to the October 1st collision.
Just before 3:30 a member of the Prince Rupert RCMP was responding to an unrelated situation, when the responding officer collided with a pedestrian crossing McBride Street at 9th Avenue, that collision resulted in minor injuries to the pedestrian.
The investigation into the incident continues and the RCMP is seeking the assistance of the public and would like anyone with further information to contact them at 250-627-0700, or by way of Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
As we outlined on the blog in August, 9th and McBride has been identified as a problem intersection in the past and recently it was announced that a pedestrian activated traffic light is to be installed at the intersection sometime this fall.
