MLA's week November 17-20, 2014
With the Remembrance week observances over for British Columbia's MLA's, the return to the Legislature brought another week of debate and discussion in the House this week.
For North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice, that provided for two contributions to the proceedings of the week of November 17-21 in the Legislature Chamber.
Speaking in the House, Ms. Rice made use of her time, to deliver some thoughts on two themes. One a familiar topic for the North Coast MLA on the subject of transportation options on Highway 16.
While her second effort for the week involved comments regarding the Terry Fox Day Act and a local connection to the September fund raising efforts that are held in his name.
From the seven sessions of the Legislature in the House, or Committee work listed for the week of Nov 17-20, MLA Rice appeared twice during the archives of the proceedings of the week.
On Monday morning, Ms. Rice returned to her ongoing efforts to have the Provincial government commit to a highway shuttle bus service across the Northwest, taking the issue to the Legislature as part of the Member's statements for the Monday afternoon session.
Tuesday afternoon, Ms. Rice took part in the discussion of the Legislature regarding a proposal to declare the Second Sunday after Labour Day as Terry Fox Day in the province. As part of her contribution to that conversation, Ms. Rice recounted some of the work of Jim Terrion in our community.
Our items of review on MLA Rice and her discussion points in the Legislature can be found below:

As for committee work, MLA Rice is a member of the Standing Committee on Children and Youth, that Committee had no meetings scheduled last week.
Previous to the return of the Legislature, Ms. Rice had an active weekend on the North Coast. Taking advantage of the Remembrance Week break from the Legislature to provide a tour on the 15th of the Prince Rupert area for NDP Leader John Horgan.
The NDP leader would make a bit of news on his with an interview with the Terrace Standard, which offered up some of his observations on the LNG picture for the Northwest.
