City Council Preview, Monday, December 1, 2014
Tonight marks the first night for the the newly elected Prince Rupert City Council, as Mayor-elect Lee Brain and those council members elected during the November 15th municipal election take their oaths of office and seats at City Hall.
Owing to the special nature of this evening's events, Council will meet at 5 PM as opposed to the usual 7 PM session.
A number of appointments, will also be made as part of the first night of the new Council, along with a presentation of First Nations Elders and the Mayor's Inaugural Address.
The range of normal Council items such as requests, Correspondences for Action , Bylaws and Reports and Inquiries will take place as well.

Below we'll highlight the different elements of this evenings work, for further background on each item, the page number from the Agenda is listed in red.
The session starts off with the regular adoption of agendas and minutes.
Petitions and Delegations come up next featuring a Civic Awards Presentation. Tonight that segment features the Presentation of First Nations Elders and the Mayor's Inaugural address.
Any Unfinished Business is then up next on the Agenda.
Followed by a fairly lengthy Reports and Recommendations section, which provides for a number of Reports on Appointments to be made by Council tonight.

Report from the Chief Financial Officer - Re: change of Signing Authorities to Newly Elected Signing Authorities (see page 13 of the Agenda)
Report from the City Manager -- Re: Skeena Queen Charlotte Regional District, Appointment of Directors (page 15 of the Agenda)
Report from the City Manager -- Re: North West Regional Hospital District, Appointment of Directors (see page 16 of the Agenda)
Report from the City Manager -- Appointment of Committee Members to the Northwest Advisory Committee of the Norther Development Initiative Trust (see page 18 of the Agenda)

Following those appointments Council then moves on to other business from the Agenda including:
Requests, Correspondences for Action and any resolutions from previous Closed Meetings of Council.

The evening then wraps up with and Additional Items from Council members, Reports, Questions and inquiries from Members of Council.
Monday's session is the only regular public session scheduled City Council for December. The next regular scheduled City Council session is to take place on January 12th, 2015 at 7 PM.
However, Council has two public sessions planned for December 3rd, the first is a Public Hearing scheduled for 7 PM, where the public can provide comment on the planned change to the Community Plan and Zoning bylaws related to Lot 444, across from the Seal Cove area of the city and along Tuck Inlet.

Following that Public Hearing, Council is then scheduled to meet at 9 PM in Special Session on Wednesday, December 3rd. At that time, they will consider the public comment and then discuss further the proposed Amendments to the City's Quality of Life Official Community Plan and City of Prince Rupert Zoning Amendments for the Lot 444 proposals.
