The Charles Hays Senior Boys Rainmaker program continues to receive some attention from the provincial media, with two consecutive rankings as part of the top ten teams listings of recent weeks compiled by Howard Tsumura of the Vancouver Province newspaper.
The Rainmakers who established their brand on the province with last year's run at the Provincial Tournament of March, have found that the spotlight has continued to shine on their work heading into the 2015.
Last week the Rainmakers were listed at Number Six in the province in AAA Ball
Two weeks previous, the Rainmakers were ranked on November 22nd as the Number Seven squad in AAA Ball in BC High School basketball.
That early season ranking marked their first mention in the Vancouver media since last year's spectacular run in Langley.
The quick notes of November and December would seem to set the Rainmakers up as the team to beat across Northern British Columbia, as they head into the heart of Basketball season on the North Coast.
Not that they need much motivation for the task ahead for 2015, but Mel Bishop's squad might find a promotional video for the 2015 tournament of some interest. Offering up as it does, some of the drama of tournament time with a brief highlight reel moment for the Rainmakers of 2014.
So far things are looking very promising for a repeat trip to the big dance, in their opening series of the season, the Senior Boys swept a tournament in Vanderhoof.
Topping Prince George's Duchess Park 81 - 52 in the tourney opener.
Game number two saw the Rainmakers defeat another Prince George team with a 66 - 55 Charles Hays victory over DP Todd.
In the third game of the weekend, the Rainmakers defeated host squad Nechako Valley by a score of 73 - 58.
The Senior Boys now head off to Vancouver and Victoria with games against Carson Graham Secondary and Belmont, games that will provide a good benchmark for head coach Mel Bishop as he looks to see how this year's Rainmaker squad compares to some of the big schools from the South.
The results from Vanderhoof over the weekend should help the Rainmakers keep that top ten ranking heading into their southern excursions ahead.

Update: The December 10th Rankings propelled the Charles Hays Rainmakers to the Number 3 spot in BC AAA Basketball this week.
