It was a busy weekend of basketball both on the road and in the friendly confines of the Charles Hays Gym, as Rainmaker teams took part in a number of tournaments, finding mixed results for their weekend efforts.
At home, the Junior Boys Rainmakers found success in the Coastal Clash, with the Charles Hays 1st squad claiming the title in a Saturday night show down with the Nass Valley, the home side topping their visitors by a score of 45 to 33.
The weekend found the first squad of the Junior Rainmakers go undefeated, with victories over Smithers on Friday and Centennial Christian on Saturday paving their way to the Saturday night final.
The Rainmaker second squad also had a bit of a rougher time of it over the two day tournament, they had one win a Saturday victory over Mount Elizabeth, but losses on the final listings, the first a defeat at the hands of NESS on Friday and a Saturday afternoon loss to Smithers to bring their tournament to an end.

The Senior Boys Rainmakers travels took them to the Pitt Meadows Air Show, a high profile Vancouver area tournament, with top tier competition. And for the Charles Hays squad, that provided a good measuring stick for what they will need to work on, once they're back on the home court at practice this week.
The Rainmakers qualified for the championship round despite an opening day loss, their defensive play pushing them through by holding the margin of that Thursday loss to four points.
A margin good enough to gain them a berth on the Championship side of the tournament.
However, their luck ran out quickly after that, suffering two losses on Friday and Saturday, results which dropped them to the lower rankings of that side of the tournament.
Prior to the tournament start on Thursday, the Rainmakers played an exhibition game against the AAAA Terry Fox Ravens, with the Lower Mainland squad claiming the victory in that one by a score of 82-38.
The weekend in Vancouver, while probably a bit disappointing for the team, did provide them with a sample of the kind of competition ahead through the next two months, with a number of items to work on in that period leading up to placement time for the Provincials.
Haida Gwaii was well represented a the tournament as well, with the Queen Charlotte Secondary Saints picking up a string of victories in the Consolation round.
Their opening day loss placed them in the B side of the tourney, however they bounced back from that first disappointment to rattle off some impressive wins before their tournament came to an end.
Churchill was the eventual Air Show Tournament champion, defeating the hosts 71 to 68 on Saturday night.
