Prince Rupert business co-owners look to rebuild Homework store after Prince George Fire

The Prince Rupert based co-owners of a familiar store in Prince George are considering their options this week, following a major fire in the downtown area of the Northern interior city that destroyed a good portion of the building that housed that city's Homework store as well as neighbouring buildings.

The 3rd Avenue building that had become part of a hopeful rebirth of the downtown Prince George
area suffered heavy fire damage this week, the nature of the downtown fire resulting in a call out from all four of the Prince George Fire Halls.

No one was injured during the course of the fire, which took Prince George fire fighters over two hours to bring the blaze under control.

CKPG TV provided an overview of the nature of the blaze and the impact that it has had on the downtown community.

David Smook, the Prince Rupert businessman who is one of the owners of the Homework store in this city and the Prince George location told CBC's Daybreak North today that he hopes he can rebuild in the same location.

The audio of his interview with Carolina de Ryk can be found here.

The Prince George Homework location had only recently moved to the Third Avenue address, having only been open in that location for two months.

Fire investigators continue to look for clues as to the nature of the fire, no damage estimate has been outlined related to the late evening fire.
