Northern Savings recognizes inspirational Northwest students

Three students in the Northwest will be receiving some financial support for their studies from Northern Savings as the Northwest Credit Union announces the winners of their 2015 Inspire Bursaries.

The program which was introduced in 2013 is designed to provide financial assistance to students making a difference in communities across the Northwest.

This year, 26 applications were received by Northern Savings for their program and after a selection committee completed their review, three submissions rose to the top of the list.

Receiving bursaries from Northern Savings this year are:

Jane Bradbury from Prince Rupert, who receives at $1,500 bursary for her education pursuits.

Heather Brule from Queen Charlotte, receives $1,000 towards her studies

Aime deViveiros from Terrace will receive $500 to assist with her education.

“We are raising some phenomenal leaders in our communities and Northern Savings is pleased to assist these inspirational students with their education.” -- Northern Savings Interim CEO Sharon Stromdahl, highlighting the strong number of applications for the Inspire Bursary program this year.

The successful applicants met the three criteria for consideration of community volunteerism, financial need and composition of an inspirational essay which focused on the theme of "Thinking about the skills you will acquire through your post secondary studies, how will you be able to give back to your community or inspire others go give back to their community"
