The local Society that is dedicated to safeguarding the waters of the Prince Rupert harbour will be holding its Annual General Meeting this afternoon at the Prince Rupert Port Authority offices in the Atlin Terminal.
The Society has engaged in a number of debris recovery projects in recent years, collecting items that could provide for hazards to navigation in the harbour and its approaches. It was created in 1983 with the goal of controlling and reducing the dangers to navigation caused by debris and to promote the safe use of Prince Rupert harbour.
Since 2011, the Society has conducted three public clean up projects around the Prince Rupert region.
Some of the past work that they have been involved in can be reviewed here.
Today's meeting is scheduled to start at 3 PM and anyone in the community that is interested in their work is welcome to attend.
