Whooping Cough cases on the rise for Northern Health region

Increased cases of whooping cough (pertussis) in some areas of the Northern Health service region have given the regional health agency to provide a reminder to parents to be up to date on routine immunizations, including those for whooping cough.

With an outbreak declared in portions of Alberta and Saskatchewan, Northern Health outlined some background on the nature of immunization as the best method to control the spread of diseases, such as measles, mumps and whooping cough.
