With the local group targeting the area from Rushbrook to Cow Bay as well as along Hays Creek for attention this year.
The litter that collects on the shorelines of the region provides a significant problem for marine life, wildlife and the North coast ecosystem, removing it helps to make the aquatic ecosystem cleaner, healthier and safer for all marine life (and it doesn't hurt those of us on shore either)
The local efforts begin at 10 AM with the group gathering at the Rushbrook docks and working their way across the city's waterfront areas though the day.
You can get more information and register for Saturday's clean up here.

Those that are under the age of 19 will require the waiver provided to be signed by a parent or guardian. Bring your own gloves if you have them, cleaning up after all can be a messy affair.
If you need more information on Saturday's clean up check the Great Canadian Shoreline Clean UP website or check in with Ms. Birdsall at the Vancouver Aquarium's North Coast office.
Updates on the weekend plans may also be found through Ms. Birdsall's twitter feed.
