Blog Watching, Week ending January 24, 2016
Oil and LNG issues, as well as industrial development at Ridley Terminals once again dominated the flow of information for the week just wrapped up.
Reports on potential spending cuts from two international energy companies with proposals for Prince Rupert were delivered through the week, with both Petronas and CNOOC indicating that the current financial turmoil in the oil and gas industry is playing a role on their planning for the year ahead.
North Coast residents could see a new development on Ridley Island by 2018, with AltaGas announcing plans for a propane export shipment terminal at the industrial site.
Documents delivered to the CEAA from Natural Resources Canada and DFO provided for a fair bit of interest, as the two federal agencies provided their research onto the potential impact of development on Lelu Island.
And the School District hosted a Community Forum on Monday night at Charles Hays Secondary to provide more background and seek feedback from the community when it comes to the new BC curriculum for local schools.
However, the top item of the week returned to the LNG files, with much interest found in our notes on reports out of Malaysia that there could be large spending cuts from that country's state energy company Petronas.
