Blog Watching, Week ending July 17, 2016
LNG dominated the week's news cycle, with work of the postponement of another large scale development for the Northwest, as Shell Canada put it's LNG Canada project on the back burner for the foreseeable future.
The upcoming Metlakatla election also generated some significant interest on the blog, our item on the final list of candidates for the August 19th vote attracted a large audience as the week moved forward.
Our look at the work in June of Canada Border Services Officers also attracted a fair amount of readers to the blog through the last seven days, as did our glimpse into the background of the new summer co-host at the CBC's Daybreak North program.
And some long range dining plans for Prince Rupert residents brings the list of five to an end, with our look at the prospective home for a Mr. Mikes steak house in the city attracting a growing number of readers since it was posted on Friday morning.
The top story of the week however keeps the focus on the latest news out of the LNG files of the Northwest, with Shell Canada dashing hopes for a Final Investment Decision when it comes to their proposed Kitimat LNG Canada terminal project.
LNG Canada announcement latest setback for Northwest LNG plans -- An announcement by Shell Canada that it will be postponing it's LNG Canada plans for Kitimat for an indefinite period of time sent a worrisome signal for those looking to see the launch of the industry in the Northwest.
