The public tour of Prince Rupert Gardens may be cancelled for 2016, but the floral displays are in full bloom at the Sunken Gardens |
At one time it was one of the more popular events on the summer calendar, a tour of local gardens around the City to view some of the hard work of the spring planting season in full bloom in front and back yards around Prince Rupert.
However, this year, it appears that many of Prince Rupert's Green Thumbs have taken the year off, with the 2016 Prince Rupert Garden Tour cancelled owing to a lack of gardens to tour.
The notice of this years decision to cancel the annual garden tour appears on the Transition Prince Rupert Facebook page, with tour organizer noting that there may be a bit of work ahead to get more local gardeners involved, as they look ahead to 2017 and another opportunity to rebuild the annual tour.
For this year, residents will have to make the best of the Sunken Gardens project behind the court house, that location has seen a significant amount of work in the Spring, with a planting party and financial support from the Port of Prince Rupert towards a makeover for the popular attraction.
Other public venues where local residents and visitors to the region can take own self guided tour of the city's floral displays include City Hall and Service Park.
