Municipal politics also worked its way into the featured items of the week, with two reports of note to pass along.
The first an announcement of an agreement on Tax Revenue sharing between Prince Rupert and Port Edward related to the Ridley Island Tax agreement, as well a zoning consideration will be the topic of on an upcoming Public Hearing in Port Edward, a the District's Council members examine the prospects for a work camp to house workers on the proposed AltaGas propane terminal.
The weather caught the attention of readers as the week came to an end as well, as the last gasps of a churning Pacific tropical storm came ashore. The weather system at one time was crossing through the South Pacific Hurricane and had been named Lester, it became significantly reduced in power as it made its slow transit across the Pacific towards the North Coast, but still provided for some November like precipitation as it made landfall.
Electoral reform also made news this week, as Nathan Cullen, MP for Skeena-Bulkley Valley launched his tour of the region to host a number of electoral forums, with the first of the week held in Prince Rupert on Tuesday.
The top story of the week which attracted the most attention however takes a look at the latest change in the city's commercial sector.
Fields Prince Rupert Square Store to close doors later this month -- There will be one less option for shopping in Prince Rupert later this month as the city's Fields store begins its liquidation process on the way to a store closure. (posted September 8, 2016)
