Further delays for BC Ferries as winds hold Northern Expedition in Port

Wind conditions have the Northern Expedition holding
in Port in Prince Rupert today, the weather adding further delays
to transportation on the North Coast

It's been a frustrating weekend for travellers between Prince Rupert and Haida Gwaii as weather conditions have made for a revision to the sailing schedule for the Northern Expedition.

The vessel was supposed to have departed Prince Rupert earlier this morning launching what will be a day of additional sailings between the two locations.

However, the latest information from the BC Ferries Service Notice page notes that the vessel continues to hold in dock due to wind conditions in Hecate Strait.

Those conditions may continue for the next few hours with the Marine Forecast calling for a Storm Warning for Today, tonight and Tuesday, with winds at times at 55 knots from the Southeast, diminishing later this evening.

You can get updates on the status of the Northern Expedition sailings from the BC Ferries Service Notice page and Twitter feed

Update: As of the noon hour,  the Northern  Expedition is listed as having departed on its crossing to Haida Gwii
