Terrace RCMP credit pubic assistance in quick arrest of home invasion suspect
Terrace RCMP have a 20 year old man in custody in the wake of a violent home invasion that had occurred in the community in the early hours of Monday morning.
Yesterday, the Terrace detachment outlined the details of the incident which occurred in the Park Avenue area of the city and posted photos of a person of interest related to the events.
Residents of the community were quick to action and within two hours of that information being provided to the public, a number of tips had been received by Terrace RCMP leading to an arrest by 7 PM last evening.
In a statement issued today by the Inspector in charge of the detachment, Inspector Sydney Lecky credited both the assistance of the public and the hard work of all those involved in the investigation for the quick results that effected an arrest of the individual believed to be involved in the home invasion.
"Tips from the public quickly led to an identification of the man. The images were released at 5 pm and by 7 pm we had made the arrest. I am very proud of the team work and diligence of the Terrace Detachment members who have been working nonstop on this investigation.
The information provided by the community of Terrace was the piece of the puzzle we needed to make this arrest. This is one of those rare events which understandably causes fear in a community. I think we are all relieved that a person is in custody for this very serious incident"
As part of their investigation, the Terrace RCMP had brought in a number of resources, including the Forensics Unit that is based out of Prince Rupert.
