The celebration of Francophone culture on the North Coast got underway last night with the Kick Off Social at Cowpuccinos, the first of a number of events leading up to the Saturday spectacular at the Civic Centre.
Tonight the Prince Rupert Community Arts Council presents 'Francophone Thursday at the movies' with The Midwife (Sage Femme) the featured presentation at the Prince Rupert Cinemas, show time is 7PM.
Tickets to the showing are available for eight dollars at the door.
Friday features the always popular Dessert Theatre at the Tom Rooney Theatre with music, skits and improve on the menu along with the delectable treats, the festivities get underway at 8PM.
On Saturday, the Dick St. Louis Auditorium at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre will be turned into the backwoods of Quebec as it plays host to the AFFNO Sugar Shack for 2018 |
Saturday takes us to the Sugar Shack at the Civic Centre, with this years event set up in the Dick St. Louis Auditorium the Brunch runs from Noon until 2 PM.
The Brunch will feature the music of the Gypsy Moondogs, lots of prizes and of course the tasty temptations of French Canadian cuisine, many of them topped by maple syrup.
The Grand Prize is a return trip for 2 with VIA Rail from Prince Rupert to Jasper.
Those who purchased Early Bird tickets are also in the running for a return trip for 2 with Vehicle to Haida Gwaii with BC Ferries.
Tickets for the event are 15 dollars per adult and 10 dollars per child (12 and under)
Tickets for the Sugar Shack are available at Cooks Jewellers and the AFFNO offices at Hecate Strait Building on 1st Avenue East.
Music is the focus on Saturday night, with Mélisande in performance at the Lester Centre, show time is 7:30 PM.
Tickets go for 20 dollars per adult, 15 per student/seniors.
If you wait until showtime to pick up your tickets add the price is 25 dollars.
