Blog Watching: Week ending February 18, 2018

The dangers of winter travel on the highways dominated our blog items on the week, with our notes on the tragic news of the death of a Prince Rupert woman on Highway 16 west of Terrace making for our most read item of the week.

A pair of  our blog posts which reflected the interest in both the All Native Tournament and the CIHL in the region also found a large audience over the last seven days.

The most attention was directed towards our items on the 59th edition of the All Native Basketball Tournament, with both our Scoreboard watching feature and Archive of notes on the Tournament attracting a strong audience.

Even though the Prince Rupert Rampage are no longer on the ice this season, there was still some interest in the progress of the CIHL playoffs, with our preview of the final series between Terrace River Kings and Williams Lake Stampeders making for a widely read item.

North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice found herself in a bit of a controversy this week past, that after her comments at the Opening Ceremonies for the All Native tournament were panned by a significant number of tournament attendees, so much so, that she provided for an apology to the Gingolx Nation at the start of the week.

And our review of the recent announcement announcing plans for a New Hospital for Terrace and the need for local officials on the North Coast to become more proactive on health care in Prince Rupert proved to be a popular read through the week.

The top story of the week however looked at the circumstances related to a highway fatality on Highway 16 around 30 kilometres west of Terrace,
