It's a must win situation Saturday for the Prince Rupert Rampage who host the Williams Lake Stampeders in Game Two of a possible three game series (photo from Rampage twitter feed) |
The Rampage found themselves looking into a potential quick exit for the off season after a tough loss in the Cariboo city last Saturday night, when the hometown Stamps offered little room for the visitors to make for much of a push back in their icebreaker match up of a potential Best of Three Series.
Should the Rhinos hope to get to a game three, they will have to try and find the answer to a strong Williams Lake attack.
As we noted in our notes from Monday, while the Rampage were first on the scoreboard last Saturday night, the Stampeders had more than enough answers through the full sixty minutes, claiming the 8-4 victory and the quick jump in the win column for the first round of the three game showdown.
Prince Rupert will be looking to return to the scoring form that hey had for much of January. A four game burst of offence that saw the Rampage score 29 goals in less that three weeks, surrendering but 11 goals as they climbed their way to their second place finish.
Williams Lake however is a team with lots of firepower as well, having scored 75 markers through the course of the sixteen game regular season.
The two teams are closely matched at either end of the rink, with the Rainmakers holding a slight edge when it comes to goal tending from the regular season.
Puck Drop on Saturday is 7 PM at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre and beyond the high pace of the hockey, there are many incentives to make the night hopefully a memorable one for Rampage fans.
Once the Rampage prevail on Saturday (if we dare to tempt the hockey Gods here) Sunday's Game Three finale will take place at Noon.
You can keep an eye out for any late breaking news from the Rampage room through their Facebook page, twitter feed and website.
The Other CIHL Semi-Final takes place this weekend as well, as the Terrace River Kings play host to the Quesnel Kangaroos, with the River Kings holding a one game to none lead in the Best of Three series, that after the Terrace squad topped the Kangaroos 4-2 last Saturday night.
Like the Rampage game, the River Kings/Kanagroos showdown on Saturday has a 7 PM puck drop at the Terrace Ice Arena.
Should there be a game three, the two teams return to the ice at 1 PM on Sunday.
