Fairview Terminals will see new weekly container service introduced tomorrow

Harbour watchers will want to keep their eyes on the horizon tomorrow, as the Port of Prince Rupert plays host to a new container service calling on the Fairview Container Terminal,

The Yang Ming line and its partners in THE Alliance, Hapag-Lloyd and Ocean Network Express, have added Prince Rupert as the first North American port of call on the amended PS8 trans-Pacific service this spring.

The service which originates in the Asian ports  of Tianjin, Qingdao, Shanghai and Busan,  will mark the launch of their the new service with the inaugural port visit for the YM Masculinity.

The vessel with a capacity of 6,500 TEU's is currently to the west of Haida Gwaii making its way towards the Fairview terminal

Shaun Stevenson, the Vice-President of Trade Development and Public Affairs for the Port of Prince Rupert highlighted how the new partnership will continue to showcase what the Pacific gateway on the North coast can offer global shippers.

"The addition of THE Alliance to Prince Rupert's containerized cargo services expands the reach of Asia-North American trade through our port to new markets and shippers,"  ... “With expanded capacity to accommodate 1.35 million TEUs, we're confident this new partnership will strengthen the supply chain solutions offered through the west coast's leading-edge gateway."

The arrival of the THE Alliance's PS8 service makes for the fourth weekly service for Prince Rupert, unlocking the ability for all inter modal shippers on or near CN’s continental rail network to route freight through the Port of Prince Rupert.

For its part, CN and DP World, the Port's two partners in the global shipping footprint both celebrated the addition of another shipping line to the harbour listings.

The Marine Industry website Marine Traffic is charting the course of the YM Masculinity as it makes its way towards Prince Rupert.

According to the Port of Prince Rupert's Vessel movements listings the vessel will arrive in the early morning hours of Saturday, it will remain alongside Fairview for seventeen hours.
