As golf course turns attention towards fall and winter maintenance, a weekend chance to hit the links in the Duffers Tourney



While Prince Rupert Golf Course superintendent Peter Drake makes his plans for fall and winter upgrades for the eighteen holes of the Centennial Golf Course, a reminder from the Pro Shop that there is a tournament set for this weekend

The Duffers Tourney is set for tee off on Saturday, with a Sunday session to follow for Prince Rupert's golfers, the event which is a mixed event for both ladies and gents has a 100 dollar entry fee and includes a practice round today to warm up for the two day tournament.

Saturday night features a Buffet Dinner, with the tournament hosting bot KP's and Deuce pots, Sunday will wrap up with the Prize presentations following the afternoon play.

As for the course itself, Mr. Drake notes some concerns over recent aeration of the greens, but on the whole is of the opinion that the course is getting better an showing more colour, with hopes for new sand for the chipping green and the arrival of some topdressing sand for future use.

The grounds crew will be turning their attention towards longer term improvements heading into the fall, with re-sodding, the levelling of tee boxes and other concerns on the to do list.
