Final day for registration for electoral process referendum, as mailing deadline gets an extension until December 7th

The strange, twisting road to referendum on the province's electoral system is rounding the final turn, with today marking the final day to register for participation in the mail in voting.

A process that will determine whether the province stays with the current First Past the Post system, or instead moves to one of three options for proportional representation.

Those who wish to register for the vote have until midnight tonight to contact elections BC to request one or drop into the Service BC Centre on Third Avenue West to request one.

You can get more info on the process and contact Elections BC through their website

Or by calling them before midnight tonight at 1-800-661-8683

You can register for the referendum at the Prince Rupert location of
Service BC, the office will also accept your completed ballots

The original deadline for mailing in your ballots was November 30th, however with postal uncertainty dogging much of the month long voting process, Elections BC has posted information to its website advising that the mail in deadline has now been extended until December 7th.

Completed ballots can be returned by mail, or dropped off at the Service BC Centre in your community.

The return rate for the balloting had been somewhat low in the early days of the mail in process, however in recent weeks Elections BC has noted an increased amount of the ballots coming into their office.
