Work crews from CN Rail worked through the night to address what the railway described as a minor derailment on the mainline between Terrace and Prince Rupert, located near the area where the old Kwinitsa Rail station was once located.
The derailment involved three loaded wood pellet cars and a locomotive, some of the load from the pellet cars did spill out into the adjoining area.
Fortunately no dangerous goods were involved in the incident, with CN stating that there was no danger to the environment of the area.
Some of the members of the train crew suffered what were said to be minor injuries.

The derailment took place around 7:30 Thursday evening and service between Prince Rupert and Terrace came to a standstill in the period required to address the derailment.
Also affected by the derailment was the VIA Rail service between Terrace and Prince Rupert, with passengers transferred to Prince Rupert by bus on Thursday.
The rail line was reopened to traffic earlier this morning, though travellers along Highway 16 were subject to occasional delays around the incident site.
CN has not to this point outlined what may have led to the derailment.
