SD52 puts out tender call for abatement work on schools scheduled for demolition
The first stage towards demolition of a pair of schools in School District 52 is underway with the Prince Rupert School District putting out a call for tender for Abatement work for both Seal Cove and Kanata schools.
As we noted on the blog in April, the District had approved a spending plan for 2019-20 that included a business case for the demolition of the two east side schools which were closed over a decade ago in a round of downsizing by the District.
The abatement process is that which removes all the material from inside of the structure, including any hazardous materials, in effect leaving a shell for eventual demolition.
The Request for tender was posted to the BC Bid last week and provides a range of information on the expectations of the School District, as well as details as to nature of the competition.
The Scope of work listings provides a glimpse as to some of the work that will be required of the successful bidder as they take to preparing both of the schools for eventual demolition.
The School District has set up a mandatory Site Visit for those interested in submitting a bid for consideration, that has been scheduled for Tuesday September 3rd.
The closing date for contractors to submit their bid is September 17th at 2PM.
Inquiries towards the tender process can be directed towards James Warburton at the School District.
You can review the full request for bids from the BC Bid website.
