3.0 Sunday temblor recorded north of Petersburg, Alaska

The seismic plates shifted a bit earlier today, but the quake a 3.0 magnitude temblor located 366 kilometres to the North of Prince Rupert was not strong enough to be noticed on the North Coast of BC.

Noted at 6:15 AM BC time and at a depth of 16 kilometres the quake centred just north of Petersburg, Alaska was mostly an event for the border area between Alaska and BC much of it sparsely populated.

There was no Tsunami danger presented by today's seismic event.

It is just the latest of small to middle rumblings that have been recorded along the panhandle area in the last few weeks.
