Canadian Library Month provides a good opportunity to explore Prince Rupert's House of Reading
October is Canadian Libraries Month, and while just one month dedicated to the Library doesn't do justice towards its value to the community; these thirty one days of October do offer up a good reason to drop into the Sixth Avenue West House of Reading, just to see what's new and what's coming up.
The Prince Rupert Library, like libraries across the country is celebrating the month of honour and in Prince Rupert that means a chance to pick up a new library card with the five dollar charge waived through the month.
For those who may have lost their card, or need a replacement the offer stands until October 31st though there are a few conditions, you must provide for updated account information, be in good standing with the Library and beneath the Five dollar limit for borrowing privileges.
To find out if you're on the naughty or nice list with the Library call them at 250-627-1345
And while the focus is on October's events, November offers the return of a popular Library event with the 13th annual Novel Idea Auction on the horizon.
With the Friday, November 8th date at the Lester Centre a popular fundraiser for the local library.
The call recently went out to all artisans, crafters, photographers and culinary enthusiasts to consider making a contribution of an item or two for the Friends of the Library fundraising event.
Contributions are being accepted at the Library until November 7th.
The Novel Ideas Auction will see the doors to the Lester Centre open at 6:30 on November 8th, with a half hour viewing time allowed for before the tag team tandem of Auctioneers Michael Gurney and Doug Kydd take to the Lester Centre gavel to get the Auction under way.
You can learn more about that event from the Facebook page created by the Friends of the Prince Rupert Library.
The Library also has a list of some of their activities through October here.
