Prince Rupert's Fire/Rescue Department puts focus on safety during Fire Prevention week
If you live near a school this week, there's a good chance you are going to see a fire truck or two in the lanes adjacent, there will be no need to worry though, most likely it's not a response to an emergency call, but rather an educational moment for students and staff around SD52.
As we noted last week, October 7 to 13 is the week dedicated towards Fire Prevention and as part of the week of observation and celebration of the work of the local Firefighters, members of the city's Fire/Rescue Department are bringing the home safety message to the students of the city.
Also sharing the word on preparation and attention to Safety is the City of Prince Rupert, which yesterday began to highlight safety messages through the City's Social Media stream on Facebook.
The City's video reviews can be found here.
Fire Safety week in Prince Rupert will wrap up on Saturday, with the First Avenue West Fire Station hosting a community BBQ with the members of the Prince Rupert Firefighters Local 559 will be working the grill.
The Saturday event takes place from 11 AM to 2 PM and offers the chance to tour the fire station, ask questions about some of the new additions to the PRFD fleet and learn more about home safety.
The event page for Saturday's Open House and BBQ has more details.
More on the city's Saturday plans can be explored here.
