Haida Gwaii self-isolates, discourages non-resident travel as COVID-19 response continues to accelerate

Residents of Haida Gwaii are asking those who are not full time residents of the Islands to stay home, discouraging non-resident travel through an information statement that brought all Island leaders and health authorities together on the call.

Haida Nation President Gaagwiis (Jason Alsop), provided the latest moves to residents through a video presentation (see above).

Noting of the extra-ordinary times that we find ourselves in,  the Council of the Haida Nation after consultation with Village Councils and municipalities. has urged against any leisure travel to Haida Gwaii.

The latest moves from Island officials comes after they issued a travel advisory for residents of the Islands last week.

Further details and background on the steps that Haida Gwaii is taking to self-isolate can be found from the Council of the Haida Nation website and through their Social media stream.

The Council of Haida Nation has also created a COVID-19 Notice page which you can access here.
