Prince Rupert's summer festival Seafest and Canada Day celebrations the latest cancellations owing to COVID-19
The list of popular local events now on the cancellation list continues to grow as organizers of Prince Rupert's popular start to summer of Seafest announced that the 2020 edition will not take place this year.
That as the Special Events Society does their part to commit to Community Safety in these times of COVID,
In an update to their Facebook page the local organizing committee notes that they met in a virtual meeting on April 7th and at that time unanimously decided that both the Seafest and Canada Day festivities will be cancelled for this year, that as the community continues to work towards stopping the spread of COVID-19.
Comments to the Facebook advisory make note as to how the decision must have been a tough one but all seem supportive of their moves, with many residents offering to help out once the current COVID Health crisis has passed.
This year would have marked the 42nd annual event, with the theme for the festival to have been "Surfs Up"
