Stay ashore the call from Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue Station 64 in Prince Rupert
With the nicer weather of Spring now here, the chance to slip away from your social distancing times in Prince Rupert may give cause to taking to the water, but for those with such thoughts, the word from the local Search and Rescue group in the city is, stay safe, stay home.
Members of the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue Station 64 in Prince Rupert made the call through their Social media feed last week, noting that while they remain on call, they are looking for some temporary assistance from recreational users of the region.
Towards the goal of safety, they are asking that those boaters, kayakers, paddle boarders and such stay ashore during the current time of COVID response in the province.
The local marine SAR group is the second group to raise concerns about outdoor recreation, as we noted back earlier this month the Prince Rupert Ground Search Rescue group also issues a similar advisory about trips into the back country at this time.
Updates on the work of both SAR groups in the region can be reviewed below
