No new cases of COVID for Northern Health, as Tuesday case report totals 23 new reports of COVID-19

Tuesday's statement on the most recent case count of COVID offered a return to a more positive trend, with just under two dozen cases to report and no new cases reported for the Northern Health Authority region.

Also of note, the positive numbers when it comes to hospitalization and the need for Intensive Care for those affected.

The update came from Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix. noting of the 23 new cases, for a total of 3,523 cases in British Columbia.

 “There are 253 active cases of COVID-19 in the province and 3,076 people who tested positive have recovered. 

Of the total COVID-19 cases, nine individuals are hospitalized, three of whom are in intensive care. 

The remaining people with COVID-19 are recovering at home in self-isolation." 

Across the province the case totals are as follows: 1,815 in the Fraser Health region, 143 in the Island Health region, 358 in the Interior Health region, 80 in the Northern Health region (the same amount as noted on Monday.  

As well, there are 60 cases of people who reside outside of Canada.

Today's statement also observed on one new passing from the virus, as well as a hold on the reports of cases of COVID from the Haida Gwaii outbreak.

 “There has been one new COVID-19 related death in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, for a total of 194 deaths in British Columbia. We offer our condolences to everyone who has lost their loved ones during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

There have been no new health-care facility outbreaks. In total, one long-term care facility and two acute-care facilities have active outbreaks. “There are no new community outbreaks and public-health teams continue to support the active outbreaks on Haida Gwaii and at Fraser Valley Packers Inc."

With a BC Day Long weekend approaching for the province, the two top public health officials noted of the measures in place towards safe distancing and the need to keep our groups small to keep working towards a return to a bend of the curve that has edged up in recent weeks.
